Legends ofAmarna

Warning! The anathema is here.

The doctrine that poisoned the souls of many, that wrought blood against blood, life against life. Aspasia has not been the same, nor will it ever be. As history fades into legend, and legend into myth, so too are the whispers of peace that had once brought each of the races together in harmony. As such a time faded into history, so does the chaos grow - the resentment that breeds loathing - that brings about war.

With the world pitted against each other, each race, equines, canines, and felines taking sides, the question is, which side will you choose?

Meredith is a rather plain looking mare of a medium to heavy build. While she is not extremely old, fine wrinkles can be seen forming around her eyes. She has the bearing of one wise and experienced and a scowl can often be seen across her face. Her eyes are a filmy gray, and her pupils are nearly the same color being a light grey-brown. From a distance her eyes appear to be one solid color, and the difference is only noticeable up close. The silver of her eyes belays her vision problems, and while she can see general shapes and forms, they appear as blobs. She has always had poor vision, so she is used to living in a world of formless shapes. Rather she gets around by her acute hearing and echolocation. Her mane and tail are the same silver as her eyes, and they gradate to a gentle brown at the tips. Her hair is often slightly unkempt and messy, and sometimes she braids strands of it for decoration. Sometimes she also braids in flowers, leaves, sticks, bones or other ornaments for decoration. On her head is a pair of antlers. The antlers are deer-like, but instead of shedding them in the winter, they remain on her head year round, and she also sports a pair of wings. As with her mane and tail, her feathers sometimes appear unkempt, but it is not something that bothers her. She can make them disappear at will and walk around without wings if desired. Meredith also has a brown coat, that has lighter ragged stripes crossing it as well as white coronet markings. On the left side of her face, she bears ragged scars over her eye, and along her neck. They were caused by an accident while she was a foal.

Meredith is a complex mare, with quite the personality. Because of her age and experience she is often considered wise to the ways of the world. However, this wisdom is not always selfless, rather she prefers to turn events in a way that will help her or her cause. Though she is selfish at times, she will help others when necessary, and is well versed in herbs and healing. Because of her age and her vision problems, Meredeth doesn't really care what others think. She is very blunt, with a sharp tongue, and can come across as downright offensive at times. It is not always meant with a mean spirit, but she also isn't afraid or ashamed of saying whatever comes to mind. She is not very quick to compliment, so if she gives someone recognition for a job well done, it is truly meant. Before coming to Caeleste, Meredith was a well versed shaman and healer in her village. Many considered her a good witch of sorts, and while she does have her selfish moments she is very knowledgeable about the metaphysical, healing, herbs, crystals, and other aids to help with the unseen. She is also very unlikely to turn down anyone in need of healing and assistance, however sharp her front may be, and she also has a soft spot for children.

Meredith has had a relatively uneventful life. Even as a young foal she was gifted in the ways of the spirit world, healing, and shamanism. Her aptitude for the metaphysical caught the attention of the village wise-women, and as a foal she was pulled aside for training. It was a full time process and after many years, she was finally brought into the ranks as a full shaman and wise-woman. As time progressed, she grew in power, and rank, and she became one of the most proclaimed wise-women in the whole region. Horses from far and wide would come to her for help with spiritual issues, healing, and guidance. If someone had been cursed, she could lift it, if someone had issues with nightmares she had a solution, if someone had an injury, she knew what would be needed to heal it. She was very well versed and taught many other horses the art of the unseen. In relation to the injuries on her left side, she had been out herb hunting for her mentor as a yearling. Because of her poor vision she had stumbled down the side of a small cliff into a bramble thicket. Her left side became caught, and panicking, she dug thorns in deep enough to scratch and scar. She was eventually rescued by her mentor who went after her once realized she had been gone too long.

Merideth has a white raven companion named Othello. Othello helps her with every day tasks and is a "seeing eye bird" of sorts. He often helps her gather herbs, and offers his opinion on all matters great and small. He is always by her side and is protective of her because of her poor vision. In important matters he allows her to see and experience through his eyes so instead of seeing general shapes can see clearly and sharply. Because Othello is a raven, he is a large bird, and has the ability to learn and speak a few words. However, this is difficult for him, and he prefers to speak to her through their mental link. Besides that, Othello typically has a critical opinion, so he prefers to keep his opinion between the two of them. If they discovered what he really thought, at times they would find it extremely insulting.
