Legends ofAmarna

The hourglass drips on and on, and over time history fades.

What is truth to a king? A tyrant? A god?

And you? What do you value most?

Once upon a time, the land of Aspasia prospered under the peaceful rule of a grand council. Now it's kingdoms lay shattered, its people divided, and its most ancient civilization forgotten. After a thousand years of struggle and the recent opening of ancient portals, long considered obsolete, the world is changing, and its inhabitants struggling. Each choice, each decision, now more important than ever. And you? Which side will you choose?

Aeoloni

It was another day, and Aeoloni was off surveying the land. She was beginning to get a better grasp of the cultures and landscape, but something still seemed off. She was starting to want to find a home, a place to settle down and call home. This land seemed in utter turmoil though, and nowhere seemed appealing. She was a warrior and fighter, and often saw herself as the one fighting for goodness and life... but the rulers and authorities just left a foul taste in her mouth. The gods and goddesses seemed good enough, mostly anyways, but no one that was mortal seemed to fit her own ideals and standards. Oh what life was like on the other side, when she was basically a deity in terms of power, and things were much more black and white. She was a servant, one high enough ranking to command armies and get what she needed done, but still a servant, and that mindset stuck... Though more and more frequently, she was starting to feel like she needed to find a way to make a difference. Even if it meant taking seat as a ruler.

As her mind wandered, she flew through the air, peering at the ground below. For a while, the landscape seemed normal, at least as much as it could for a land that had essentially been burned to the ground, but then things got worse. A town looked like it had been razed and looted, the grounds dead and dying. It was barren. Moving closer to the ground, she could see corpses littering the walkways of a small village. Her heart sank. There were no signs of life. At least not at first.

Landing she walked through the desolate town. The stink of death filling her nostrils. If she wasn't used to it, she would have gagged and thrown up. In her long life, however, she had seen much much worse, even if this still left a sour taste in her stomach. Many lives had been lost, and there was nothing she could do to bring them back, or even properly honor all the dead on her own. It was too large a task for one person.

Sighing she paused. She could at least burn as many bodies as she could gather in a day, and give them a proper remembrance ceremony. It would be a lot of work, but she had time. She was immortal after all, and still had not settled on a home. Perhaps she could spend a few days here and make some kind of amends for the wrongs done and the souls that had been treated so wrongly.

As she was pondering the cleanup of the town, suddenly faint hammering reached her ears. Swiveling them towards the sounds she picked up a quick trot towards itSomeone was alive!

As she drew nearer, she located a shed that the sound seemed to be coming from. It was dilapidated and mostly torn down, but someone was in there as a familiar scent reached her nostrils. She thought she recognized it, but how could it be? The child had been left with The queen of Vata herself, and she shouldn't be alone or unattended. Least of all, here.

Reaching the doorway, she thought about switching to her human form, but dropped the idea. She was always much more comfortable in her equine body. It was the one she was most used to, at least as far as mortal shapes went, and poked her head through the broken door. Sure enough it was Cinders. As odd as it seemed. She looked very downtrodden, but also very determined. She was also alone. What was she doing here?

Speaking out, she questioned the child, her voice a mix of mostly concern with a touch of curiosity. No this couldn't be right. What in the world was going on?"Cinders?"

Cinders

There are no wrong turnings.
Only paths we had not known
we were meant to walk.
